Coleman Coscia: It is definitely more expensive to have one of those covers made, but it is a very easy process. Also, you don't have as many options as far as styles. If you have the time and patience, however, go with a traditional shower remodel because it will probably look better and your options are basically endless.
Dick Maisenbacher: It's VERY expensive to have those "bath fitter" covers made and installed. My mother looked into it years ago and discovered it was cheaper to have a craftsman tear out her old shower and put in a new tile one than to have the plastic or fiberglass "fitter" installed. And it certainly looks nicer. The only advantage of the "fitters" is the installation is very quick with little or no mess.Price varies wildly, depending on the size and condition of your bath but I think her quotes were from $2500 to $3500.
