primary vs secondary ?

Inez Relihan: I'm guessing this is based on England's education system.Normally, a primary teacher can teach in a secondary school and vice versa. The difference is that you would need to know your subject well enough to teach it to secondary students. You don't mention what your undergraduate degree was in- if it was maths, then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to be a maths high school teacher. If you are still in uni then I would talk to someone there. They might even suggest you swapped to a different course.I am an NQT primary teacher, and I've never liked the idea of teaching secondary. I enjoy the pastoral aspect of primary, and I find it more interesting to teach a range of subjects, and not have to swap classes.I wouldn't want to be a secondary teacher as the behaviour management would be a chore, I wouldn't feel like I had a connection with my pupils and I would find it monotonous. But that's just me!...Show more

Kris Otuafi: Each state probably has a ! different set rules. I taught secondary math with a Math 7-12 certificate, then moved to middle school, where I taught math in grades 6,7,8. The teachers in middle school with K-6 certification could not teach in grades 7 or 8, maybe one class was allowed. I enjoyed not just teaching in the same place for my entire career. Most teachers continue on for additional and certification. Don't assume you will be teaching at the same level your entire career. You can try both. Since you are half-way through you primary ed degree, continue. Check with a local school district to see what the rules are. The personnel office should be able to tell you....Show more

Stephnie Patout: prevalent succession is what you anticipate to ensue. as an occasion, bare rock, lichens, grass, oldfield, shrubs, pine wooded area, beech-maple wooded area. If something takes place to disappointed the series and set it lower back, the trend starts off over. this is secondary succession. interior the o! ccasion given above, that ought to be wood harvesting or a fir! eplace.
